Some of them you hold in the trip counter reset button, turn the ignition so all the lights come on, wait for the service light to blink (less than 30s), then turn the ignition off. As far as I know, this works on 99 and up model year. I've bought a 98 on Saturday, appears you need a special tool for 98 and earlier. (Volvo can also change the reminder interval for you, which is both distance and time based.)
