You need an ohm meter to test the TPS.

There's 3 pins on the TPS, always use the middle one as the common point and use the 2 other ones for testing as you turn the TPS and monitor the resistance on your ohmeter. Ask an TV/audio electronic technician to test it out, tell him that it's like a regular potentiometer
