For Sale '89 240 DL in McAlester, OK. $400

I am in a pretty unique situation at the moment. It's a long story and I'll tell you if you want to hear it, but for now I'll try to keep this short and simple.

I own a 1989 Volvo 240 DL that is stranded in McAlester, Oklahoma. I live about 4 hours away, in Fort Worth, Texas and I really don't have any way to recover it at the moment.

My brother was driving it down 69 coming to Dallas yesterday, when he "threw a rod." He had it towed to the nearest shop late in the evening and had to continue on to Texas because he was on a business trip. I called the mechanic today and he confirmed that there is a hole in the engine/motor.
From what I understand, it's pretty much dead.

So here I am, I figure if anyone would want to buy it, it would be someone on here. I have received a lot of help over the years from this site and maybe I can make someone's day by selling them my Volvo for really cheap.

Let me tell you a bit about her.
Her name is Ophelia
Born in 1989 (She's legal!)
Volvo 240 DL
Silver/Grey in color
Dark Blue upholstery interior w/ Black Leather trim
Automatic Transmission
Power locks/windows
Less than 200K miles on it (Last time I checked)

I am the third owner of the vehicle. The first was an elderly gentleman who took immaculate care of it in Nebraska and didn't drive it much. He sold it to a neighbor of his who joined the Army and brought it down to Fort Hood, TX. That soldier was a buddy of mine. We deployed to Iraq and it didn't get any miles put on it for an entire year. He sold it to me before moving to Fort Bragg, NC and then I deployed to Iraq again and it didn't get any miles put on it for another year.

--Cosmetic Issues--
Over the first deployment, the paint on the hood and trunk faded like I have seen commonly on so many other Volvo's from that time.
Over the years, as the plastic in the interior got older, little things started to crack or break.
The biggest thing being the glove box lock. It cracked and fell out, no longer staying closed. The glove box door would just hang open so I pulled the glove box out and removed the light bulb to keep it from draining my battery. The glove box itself is still intact, in the trunk along with the locking mechanism that broke.

--Aftermarket Modifications--
When I got back from Iraq, I took it to a Volvo specialty shop in Arkansas (where I'm originally from) and put $2,000 into it. I told them I wanted it running like it was 1989 again. They did a great job. Sadly after the $2k I didn't have enough left to get a paint job.

-I installed cup holders on both the front doors.
-I pulled out the stock tape deck and installed a newer alpine CD player with USB hookup that feeds through a modified panel next to the deck. This also has a bluetooth receiver and microphone installed just below the fuel gauge. You can see it in the pictures below.
-I replaced the front 4" speakers with newer JVC's (the driver's side speaker brackets broke, so the speaker is pulled out and sitting in the trunk at the moment. Original speaker covers are in the trunk as well.
-I went to a custom stereo place and had them build a speaker box to house 2x 6"x9" speakers behind the backseat headrests. Carpeted in black to match most of the trim/upholstery. This can be removed, there was no actual damage/modification to the car itself. I forgot what kind of speakers they are, but I spent about $200-$300 on them. No subwoofer in the trunk.
-I replaced the broken sun visor clips with black ones that I bought off ebay. One of which broke shortly after.
-I found 2x clip/snap-in leather headrest cushions at a salvage yard and cleaned them, treated them with leather treatment. Good-as-new I put them in the front headrests.
-Had the windows tinted as dark as legally possible for Texas. Local shop in Arkansas, did an amazing job.

The original manual is in the car.
The original "barf bag" that came with the car is intact with the manual.
The original tool kit is in the trunk.
Spare/Donut in the trunk along with original jack and all parts

I put a new alternator in it about 6 months ago.
There is an folder in the trunk that has receipts for just about everything ever bought/done/worked on. Including the lifetime warranty for the alternator mentioned above.

I think that's about it.
She's been loved passionately for many, many years.
But it's time for me to say goodbye.

Here is an album of pictures I took after I made most of the modifications.

So I am willing to sell it to anyone who can go to McAlester and take her. I have the title and I'm sure we can work something out to send payment via Paypal or Western Union or something. I know selling a car over the internet can be a little dangerous but that's why I'm doing it here, I think I can trust just about any of you guys.

So with this money I am going to have to make a down payment on something else since I'm now without a car.
With the engine/motor being like it is, I think $400 is a fair price considering everything that can be salvaged from her.

If you're around that area, or just willing to go there to get it, get a hold of me. I'm going to need to sell her absolutely ASAP and get something else soon.
