Um... wheels from a '91 940 don't fit a stock 544. Different bolt pattern. If that is indeed what you have, someone must have some significant modification with front and rear suspension/brakes/everything. Or changed the bolt pattern of the wheels.

If you do indeed have the later bolt pattern, how about some pictures of what's been done down there? If that is the case, I'd think the closest to stock you can get would be wheels from the earliest 140 series car you can find... they would look like what came on a stock *late* ('64-'65) 544.

Right! The wheels on my 164 LOOK LIKE 122 wheels but won't fit a 122.

OEM for your car would be solid steel wheels, 4 inches wide. The closest metric equivalent tire would be a 165/R15 (basically a classic 86 aspect ratio), still somewhat commonly available because Beetles use them too. The early style of hubcap goes witht hose wheels - larger and with a red center circle and a larve 'V'.

Starting in 64 or 65 were the silver painted slotted steel wheels, still in 4 inch width on sedans and PV's (4 1/2 on 122 station wagons?). These have the newer smooth stainless steel hubcaps.

My '64 came with the slotted wheels and the flattish hubcaps with the V logo.

They didn't match the style of the car, so maybe Volvo was trying to make the car look a little more 'modern' that late in the game. I restored the hubcaps, then put them away in favor of baby moons and 2" trim rings:

Is that a Citroen (Lemon) 2CV???
Do you use a 12 foot pole to touch it? (Wouldn't .......with a 10-foot pole.)

I've always rather liked the 2CV... if only for it's sillyness. And some folks (myself included) think British cars are silly... what do they know?

If you're tired of it, you can give it to me! I just had a birthday, and Christmas is coming up!

My first car was a 1959 Peugeot 403, and a kid in my school had a 2CV. We would swap cars once in a while - he got more power and a funky 4-speed-on-the-column with my Peugeot, and I got to rattle around town in his truly wierd little tin car. I love those things!

John,
I know this is nitpicking, but I believe the "62 PV hubcaps still came with the word "Volvo" in sort of cursive letters, while the Amazons used the V-type right from the start: at least, mine did.

Correction. No cursive letters. Just "VOLVO" and Volvo's iron emblem.
