I'm still having trouble getting a correct replacement distributor gear pin for a Bosch 0237520004 unit. Volvo's part is ~5-mil too small in diameter and 1/8-inch too long. I'll try Bosch's 800-number tomorrow to see if they know. Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone replaced the solid pin with a steel spring pin? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but if it came loose, it and the gear(?) would drop to the pan and cause trouble.

Were I in your shoes, I would head for first ACE hardware and see if they have a roll pin of correct size. If not, the next stop would be AutoZone, NAPA, O'Reilly, in that order.

Those are what's in my neighborhood.

A roll pin could be the spring steel pin you refer to.

Thanks Bob. Yes, a roll pin is what I was thinking, hollow with a slit. That's what I'll do. Bosch confirmed that these distributors are obsolete and no longer avaliable. There is very little force on the gear, but looking down the hole, if it came loose it'd be a problem.
