distributor gear pin 200 1986

I'm still having trouble getting a correct replacement distributor gear pin for a Bosch 0237520004 unit. Volvo's part is ~5-mil too small in diameter and 1/8-inch too long. I'll try Bosch's 800-number tomorrow to see if they know. Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone replaced the solid pin with a steel spring pin? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but if it came loose, it and the gear(?) would drop to the pan and cause trouble.
