So I just got my 740 towed home just a few minues ago and here's what went down.
She runs normal for a few miles then, begins to shit the bed. At idle, she'll start to idle a little rough, then if I hit the gas, it does almost nothing, feels as if the throttle cable snaped. after pushing the gas pedal to the ground a few times with no change in rpm, she stalls out. but opon restarting fine, I can keep the engine reved at 2k, in park on the side of the road, for about half a minute before it begins to cut out again. I ran the codes and nothing came back, and ran through the sensor check and nothing. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance!

sounds like fuel supply I would check fuel preasure if you have a guage and adaptor if not start with the fuel return line on the fuel preasure regulator pullcoil primary wire and crank over to check if you have good return flow be sure to use a piece of hose and container for safety if return flow is ok then your problem is with injectors or fuel control system if flow is low or non existant then work your way back to the tank starting with your fuel filter fuel pump etc. my money would be a clogged filter as I've had that problem on several fuel injected engines. good luck

Yeah, the fuel supply is good. The FPR, Fuel filter and fuel pump are all less than a year old.
It seems to be temp related. Starts normal, but if I rev it and let it idle untill the engine temp gauge moves about 1/4, then it starts to stumble like crazy then stall. I checked the temp gauge resistance (under intake #3) and got zero from both spades, which doesnt seem right to me. Also, when the temp guage is disconected, it does the same thing after a few minutes of running. ?

Sounds like your ECT is bad.

I had these same symptoms on my '90 245 one time. It was the AMM on it's way out. I pin-pointed it when I disconnected the AMM one time when it was doing this. No change in the way it was running. (Car barely ran and give it -any- gas at all and it would almost stall) I later learned the car was in
"limp-home" mode, and boy they ain't kidding!! I made the trip home at no more than 15-20 mph....didn't help the image of Volvo drivers' much!! The next morning it ran fine but I replaced the AMM and never had the problem again. One other thing: -NO- codes stored during all of this!

I hear ya! I always tell my buddies how great this car is, then this happens.
But yeah, my car doesnt have the amm, its got the Map sensor and air temp sensor instead. the air temp has been replaced maybe a year ago, but the map has not. worth a check I guess. I'll post an update.

I guess I'm confused as to what your set-up is. My wife's '91 745 definitely has an AMM. (Unless maybe you are outside of the U.S.?)

I have the ragina setup. Yours sounds like the bocsh setup, I'm guessin.
I'm just going to replace the engine coolant temp sensor. I've read through all the FAQ and I'm just gunna wing it. I'm really hoping thats the problem.
I'll update if it works..and even if it dont.

Yeah, thats what I thought too. But I checked the resistance and it checked up with what it should be. Anything else It may be?

This was your quote. Under #3 is the ECT. Temp gauge is more towards the front.
