1992 740T wagon exhaust kit number from Volvo? 700

I was at the dealer yesterday looking for a cat back exhaust kit. The parts guy thought there was a kit, but could not find it in the book. Does anyone know if there is a kit for a '92 turbo wagon? if so do you know the part number?

Thanks,

The cat back exhaust kit in a box should be p/n 272262 which replaces the original exhaust system p/n 272261. The replacement system is now common to the 700/900 B230FT and B234F motors (some pipe diameters changed). The kit includes mufflers, pipes and OEM style pipe clamps.

Note that you will also need the hangers. Volvo has a kit bag that includes the front and rear muffler hangers and the rubber mounts. It's not worth trying to buy the hangers separately. Sorry, I don't have the p/n.

As others mention, the quality and warranty make the Volvo parts a good deal. Shop internet or out-of-state Volvo dealers for discount pricing.

Your parts guy needs to wear a paper hat and a "trainee" name tag -pitiful.

Try calling Richard at St. Louis volvo. 800-844-9502parts dept. Mention out of state and internet. He will give a discount and I am sure he will know the number. BTW, not affiliated but have done business. Best OEM price around.

Hello:

I don't have the part number for the kit, but it is pretty pathetic that the dealer parts guy can't figure it out! He must be new-- perhaps you could call again and ask them to look it up-- it is their part number, after all!

Dealer exhaust is a great idea if you are planning on keeping the car for 3 years or more-- they are warrantied, and are far better quality than the aftermarket kits. They also go together easier than any other exhaust.

It might be worth a call to Borton Volvo if you are in the US-- they have a reputation for good pricing on genuine Volvo parts.

Good luck!
