'87 240 is eating motor mounts. 200 1987

Check Dave Shannon's website for a great write-up with pics concerning motor mount replacement. Solid motor mounts undermine your Volvo's ability to keep you alive during an accident. They are designed to sheer away and downwards. Check out pics of Volvo's in accidents and you notice (especially with 240's) that there remains a nice box intact to protect the passngers from intrusion fore and aft during a collision. For more info on soild motor mounts and how to make your own check out the turbo-bricks website; exaccerbated vibration will insue. I'd go with the diesel mounts dipped/coated with liquid electrical tape or that rubber gunk used to dip tool handles into an/or covered with tyvek. Make sure you replace the tranny mount to insure the longevity of the two motor mounts and remind your son not to launch the brick. There's no way 3 mounts in a year can be an acceptable failure rate, there's definately some hard driving/experimentation going on. [Going with the solid mounts puts your son's life in danger and does'nt address irresponsible behaviour] 2cents

You're a great dad. I wish I had a brick growing up as well as three of my high school friend who passed away in separate fatal accidents; caused by wrecklessness.

Happy New Year!!
