Front end saga. Not quite there S90-V90

The guys went over every nut and bolt. The car is tight, new sway bar bushings added to the struts, control arms, ball joints and sway bar links. Everything is grand UNTIL you hit a bump. Then the audible clunk returns, although I must admit is has lessened with either the sway bar bushings and/or tightening.

So, their conclusion is that the new strut is bad.

Does anyone agree with this conclusion?

What else is there to check? Th ebrakes are tight. They didn't think tie rod ends would cause the sound.

At a loss.

Someone mentioned the alarm box, where might that be??

Cheers

Dr. Chip,

Did your mechanic check for play in the steering rack's input shaft? I believe my V90's rack has some play there. My mechanic said it should be fine for a while yet, but I'll need a new rack at some point. I can't tell you for sure if this produces a clunk (I imagine it would) becasue I didn't drive the V90 much after I bought it and before I put it in storage, and it has a worn swaybar link (clunks). The rack input is something to check though.

Damn. Good sized bumps lead to good sized CLUNKS. Larger ones can also be felt through the floor on drivers side as a rattle, bump.

Starting to wonder about the A arms now. From FCP, asked for OEM. Only had aftermarket (scan tech I guess).

Review.
No bumps =A1 new car ride and handling.
medium bump = right front CLUNK. Very minor if any transfer of feeling through steering.
big bump + big CLUNK = transfer of energy through floor.

Volov Med School is open. All suggestions welcomed.

Have the strut bearings, been replaced with all the other parts? You mentioned the tie rods-were they replaced as well? The upper part of the sway bar link was causing the clunk on my car but you could hear it while bouncing the car back and forth. Bar joints cause the sound your discribing as well. The cheapest part that we have not mentioned could be the sway bar bushings and the mount brackets that hold the sway bar to the car-from grotten around 5 bucks each, two fo each required. Hang it there your gonna fix this problem yet and have a great car for years to come.

Bearings new. Sway bar links new, Control Arms new, Ball Joints new. Struts and Bearings new, sway bar bushings new...

Not new tie rod ends.

Thanks for the encouragement. Its going to in to get a second opinion next week.

Wash baord surfaces are the culprit..There is some movement in the suspension I can feel under my feet.
Mild but audible clunk from right front.

Will repost..
