I would recommend replacing the button assembly with one from the bone yard. Its rare that they fail but I have not heard of anyone succeeding at repairing them. When you pull the assembly out, check and make sure nothing is jambed between the buttons. Make sure you mark the hoses before you unplug them, the markings can be almost impossible to see.
