1992 745 wobbles around 15mph 700 1992

My 1992 740 wagon has recently started wobbling around 15mph. I can feel it when I am accelerating slowly from a stop. I cannot feel the wobble at higher speeds.

Could it be because it needs a wheel balancing ? Or is it engine mount ?

Any tip greatly appreciated. I hope its nothing serious.

I had a similar situation this weekend. Blamed the wife of bending a rim. She didn't. I jacked up the front and spun the tires. One of my tires had developed a pronounced bump or bubble on the inside of the tread. Problem solved.

Driveshaft out of balance. Not uncommon at all. I balanced mine using a hose clamp, a set of good ramps and chocks, and a scribe to note the "heavy" side of the driveshaft as you rotate the shaft by your chosen method. Clamp goes opposite that side.

My symptoms were a shudder at acceleration, up through about 20 mph or so; I even checked cylinder compression thinking the trouble might lie there. A replacement driveshaft to cure a noisy center bearing also cured the vibration problem as well. When I was forced to go back to the old driveshaft (with a new bearing), the problem reappeared until I did the hose clamp thing.

I doubt tires are the issue at such low speeds.

Try moving wheels front to back..One side at a time and see if it disappears to narrow it down.

And as aleekat says, swapping tires around is a good way to diagnose. Doesn't sound like out-of-balance to me, though. That causes vibrations at higher speeds, but when I have had wobble it has been that a belt broke inside the tire.
