There is an access hole at the bottom on each side of the seatback into which you can put a flat blade screwdriver and apply outward pressure to the spring-loaded latch mentioned by others. Here is how you find it: Do the things mentioned in the other response to get the folding piece detatched. Release and fold the seat forward but not flat. Remove two or 3 outboard hog rings that hold the upholstery together. [Use a needlenose and dykes to spread the hogring. Save for reuse or use a ziptie.] Under the upholstery you will see sheet metal. What you are looing for at the base of the sheet metal is a small hole, about 1/2 inch dia. That is where you put the blade of the screwdrive and press outward lifting the seatback up a few inches to dislodge it from the bracket on the wheelwell. Use a small rag to prevent it from slipping back in the bracket and do the same on the other side. BTW the seatback from pre-86 will work and in fact the black seatback release is hardier than the plastic ones used on 86 and newer. However the pre '86 seat bottom won't work. If you follow these instructions you won't need to practice. In fact, your practice could be taking your old one out before you go to the pnp. Caution: Don't tear the vinyl on the wheelwell when you re-install the seatback. Best done with a helper and a rag. The replacement will snap right into place, you could lube it a little. Let us know how it goes.
