89 240 Alternator Wiring Question 200

Don't rely on those ohmmeter readings. It is very very unlikely you will see the short even though one MUST have existed just as Bob says. If it was still there, your car would be actively on fire while you are disconnecting things to use your meter. For safety you should replace the alternator unless you can pinpoint the short that burned the ground wire. If you disassembled the alternator, you would surely find the evidence.
