Adding Cruise Control to 1992 740 Turbo Wagon 700 1992

I have purchased a used cruise control kit to add cruise control to my recently purchased 1992 740 Turbo Wagon.
A set of Volvo directions were supplied. They must not be
for a 1992 though. The directions specify to add the vacuum pump along the
inside fender directly below the brake master cylinder. My car has
ABS brake lines that run through this area, making it impossible to locate this
pump. Up on top, in front of the top of the strut, there is a empty bracket
that looks like a likely spot to mount this part. The holes on this bracket do not line with anything I have for parts.
The connector is in this area also.
Does anyone have this type of setup on there car? Is this
where this pump mounts? If so, what is the Part number marked on this
pump on your car? Any other hints/suggestions on this would be appreciated.
I have reviewed the 700 FAQ and no mention of my ABS line problem.

Adding Cruise Control to 1992 740 Turbo Wagon 700 1992

I found it very easy to add C.C. to my 91 745T. However, I took the unit off the wrecked car, so I knew where everything went...

I would suggest going to a junk yard and looking at a car with C.C. on it to get an idea...

I will tell you that you probably wont need the extra wire for the computer under the das, and you will be searching for a few minutes to find the connector for the computer. there are a lot of wires in the area, and finding the connector can be a b*tch.

The only thing I am really struggling with is, where does the Vacuum
motor go and do I have the right one. Where is yours located?
Do have ABS brakes? If so did the brake lines get in the way. Last question,
what is the part number of your Vacuum pump. Mine has 1279228 on it.
Thanks in advance for your help Forgot to add, no junkyards in the area
with Volvo's, so going out and looking is not an option for me.

        IIRC...

the pump attaches to a bracket, and the bracket then attaches to the body...

the bottom of the bracket is put into a hole in the body, and then the upper part of the bracket is flexed toward the drivers side of the car and attached with one or two small hex head sheet metal screws (8mm).

Yes, my cars have ahd ABS, and the bracket and pump fit with no problems.

I'll have to look at my '90 745 for a # on the pump, and I won't be able to do that until tomorrow.

        HTH-

        Kerry

Kerry, Being a little more confident in trying to fit this part based
on what you told me, I was able to get the pump in there. My
installation is complete. Unfortunately it still does not work.
I am going to start trouble shooting using 700 FAQ suggestions
          tonight. Thanks for your time.....
