Accident in the Volvo story & aftermarket headlamp question 200

I meant to post this right after the accidnet but things have been busy.
This happend about 2 weeks ago -
the story-

I am so disgusted with myself I don't even want to talk about it.
I 'm just hoping that someone can share some sympathy with me on this horrible day....

After spending the day washing, waxing, detailing with toothbrush and black magic...

2 hours before

after.........

After some dumb-ass decided to slam on his brakes to make a left turn onto a 2 lane street, I had no choice to ram him up the bumper. (25-35 mph)
luckily I didn't get a ticket, but the guy's toyota was undamaged. My 15 year old mint condition classic volvo now has $3000 in damages.

p.s.
I'm getting it repaired at a local body shop - they are almost done but one headlamp is going to be noticably clearer than the other older one
- Im looking for an after-market headlamp to replace my old good one with. does anyone know of a good source www.lampsandlenses.com has them for $40 - does anyone know of a less expensive alternative or this a reasonable price?
Thanks,

I was so excited by the price that I checked the L&L site.

Looks to me like $40 is for the lens by itself. If the reflector is also damaged, you may need the whole assembly, which they list at about $63 -- also as low a price as I've seen.

    Good luck

BTW don't feel too bad, I did this to a gorgeous 1991 sedan one time, when a van cut me off and slammed on the brakes, on I-95 at 60 mph. Just caught one headlight... that was $1800 our cost at the dealership. (Yeah it was a car I was driving for a dealer!)

$40 is the best price you'll find anywhere for a new part. It's 1/3 the price they were originally.

Lampsandlenses was very good to me, very easy to order through their site, great followup, great customer service.

Seems to be just a small operation with a very specific focus, Volvo lighting. Their products do not seem to be any particular brand name, so don't expect Cibie' or the like, but they seem correct, they fit and they work.

I don't work for them, I was just impressed with them on a recent order. And the prices are very attractive.

I think they even sell the grille you probably need, and at a very good price too. Good luck with the repairs, that's a real heartbreaker. You're very lucky the ins company didn't take the car.

Right. How did you convince them to pay for $3000 for repairs on an aged (albeit pristine) 240?

I did not have collision ins. on it.....so it was up to me if i wanted to junk it or fix it. my ins fixed the guys' toyota but i didn't get a ticket nor did my ins. go up!!! how luckiy is that? I guess the cop saw me crying and said, "by the way, that looked like a nice well kept Volvo you had there" so maybe he felt sorry for me and let me go... ? who knows!
