If your 90 740 is a non-turbo / non-California car, then it is probably a single pump Regina system vs Andrew's dual pump Bosch system, so you really can't compare the two.
A good tell-tale test would be to connect a pressure guage at the fuel injector rail that you can monitor when you're starting the car and driving. You can also see how fast the pressure drops after you shut the engine off.
Also, if your car IS a Rex-Regina, you might want to pull the coil pack apart and clean all the internal connections and mating surfaces, including the suface against the car chassis. They're known for getting dirty and oxidized internally causing a weak spark.
