Where to get duplicate keys made? 120-130

I just got a 64 130 and just to be safe I want to get a few copies of the ignition key made.

I went to Home Depot yesterday and the guy told me they can not make copies of my Volvo keys. The guys in the parts department at my local Volvo dealership were clueless as well. I looked around and could not find very much information on where I could get a copy of my ignition key made.

Any ideas?

I'm with Honeychrome on this one: any REAL LOCKSMITH worth his salt will not only have the blanks, but with the number stamped on the old key will be able to pull up the cutting recipe on his computer, if the old key is too worn to be accurately copied. I had two made for my "62 PV in nearby Brunswick, Maine for a total cost of $6, and that included cleaning and lubricating the ignition switch.

I really appreciate all your help. I am going to order the blanks from Sweedishtreasures and go from there. The push button starter sounds like a really good idea as well.

This is day two since I found the runner to restore, so I am sure I'll have a lot more questions along the way.

    Thanks to you all.

    Tyler

Ilco V06 works fine in my OEM '66 ignition cylinder.

There is a Toyota key that works in the locking gas caps - Taylor T80R

    Hope this helps,

The blanks you are looking for are:

Ilco V80P for the Heiman locksets

Ilco V61A for the ASSA lockset

As pointed out in another post, find the oldest, well estabished, locksmith in your area. Garden variety retailers just won't have the selection.

Put a push button starter switch in that puppy, especially if you have a Heiman lockse!!

scroll down to "locks & other door components"

they have the blanks but I think you
would have to have someone local cut
    them for you.

I always call fisrt though to make sure
they have what I want before I just paypal
    the money.

    Hope this helps!

    cheers,

    Karl

Last time I needed blanks, I ordered them from RPR and had them cut locally.

Sometimes key blanks come up on auction sites. Presumably the problem is that the locksmith has no blanks that will fit.

When you get the key cut, get at least two, for when the first copy breaks in the lock.

Go to a locksmith, the older the shop, the better. I went to one in RI that has been around forever and they managed to find a blank that would work for the ignition.... can't remember what he said the blank was cataloged for, but it wasn't Volvo. Home Depot and other general hardware stores pretty much only carry the most common blanks, etc.
