240t, where is the oil cooer installed in the engine bay? 200

hello,
my car runs a little hot down here in houston, so i would like to install an oil cooler.

1) how & where is the cooler in the 240t installed? in the 740, the cooler is installed sideways, on the RHS of the rad. same as in the 240t?

2) does it only have a sandwich plate, and not the oil filter extension like in the 740t & 940t?

thanks again,
byron golden

At the corner of the radiator/intercooler by the battery. There is a Wahle thermostated "sandwich plate" (if that is what you mean) between the block and the oil filter that opens under sever heat, to circulate oil to the cooler. I am not sure it would do much for you, I have been told it requires sever race temperatures to open it.

Hello Bob,

Thanks, there was a complete 240t oil cooler set with tubes that was for sale.

i figured i couldn't use the tubes because of the air box, i'll need to relocate it anyway.

regards,
byron

The 245 I just bought has a pre-oiler/oil cooler I believe. There are hoses running out of where the filter goes. One hose feeds off to a small "radiator" located in front of the main radiator and then feeds oil back to the pre-oiler (oil bubbler?) and then back into the engine. Not sure if that paints a possible picture.
