Tranny Transplant 120-130

I plan to do a transplant on my four door as a winter project from an Automatic to a four speed. I have access to a 1966 wagon. I understand that some wagon componants are different. Can anyone tell me if the tranny, drive shaft, flywheel etc interchange with the wagon?

Thanks!

Don

Hello Don!

A little off topic here but:

Do you still have any of the couplings left that
you made for the automatics???

I don't have a problam with the it yet but your
coupling definitely looks like an upgrade and I would
like to add it on as a preventative measure.

cheers,

Karl, I sure do. It sure works better than the old nylon bushings did.

Give me an address and I will throw one in the mail for you.

Thank you Don!!!

Email has been sent. I stumbled upon it on your website a month or so
back and everytime I have seen someone post with this problem I have
tried to steer them your way. I figured if you are going to do the change,
I better go ahead and grab one now before they are no more...ha ha ha.

Looks to be a permanent fix to the problem so I might
as well take care of it before I have one.
A peace of mind thing...LOL
Thank you!

cheers,

karl

Yes, only the rear axle is different, everything forwards of it interchanges. However, the transmission tunnel on the Automatic is bigger (wider) than that in a manual car, hence the gearbox crossmember won't fit, it is simply too narrow.

I haven't compared the crossmembers. Do I just build an extension to accomodate the transmission tunnel? What have other people done to make the transition? The BW35 and I are about to part ways.

search through the galleries for my user name. I posted some pics of the angle iron adapters under my car to accomodate a conversion from BW35 to M40.

Tom: I couldn't find the pictures you referred to in the galleries. I suspect I'm now searching properly, but while I'm learning could you post the URLs please.

Thanks,

Barry
