engine flush doubt? 700 1990

Hi again guys! I have changed over to synthetic oil at 185,000 and am being told at my local lube station that I should take a engine flush. First does this procedure restore engine life? At $70.00 a shot it should do something, right! Any response would be appreciated.

Not a $70 quick lube flush.
Yes, synthetic oil will clean things out, in fact it will clean all the old sludge out of seals etc to where there is a chance that you may spring some leaks for a while, after a long time , a good synthetic will generally swell the seals back up and slow the leaks.

If you want to do a real cleaning that wil also take care of the seal problem ahead of time, run a couple of treatments of Auto-RX ( www.auto-rx.com ) It does what it says it is supposed to. I've unstuck rings on countless diesels , and fixed all but one major seal leak with the stuff.

I've been using and selling Amsoil for over 20 years and for the last couple, I've been using the Auto RX treatment before changing customer cars over, instead of the Amsoil flush.

IF you want a cheap engine flush, just change the oil again after a thousand miles. Keep an eye out for leaks and replace any seals as needed.

It will be perfectly fine.

Yeah! Add profit to their bottom line!

Do not trust the recommendations of any quick lube place. They are incentivized to sell add-on services, needed or not and performed or not.

In fact, don't even go there! Have a look:

Look through the oil filler into your cam/valve chamber. If it looks clean
in there (other than oily, no black gunky stuff) you don't need an engine flush.

from what I've read, the syn. oil will do a flush on its own. consider changing the filter in 1000-1500 miles. this will remove most sludge in there, if any. stay away from them quick lube ripoff artists. invest in a oil drain pan and a socket set. this way you know it was done right, with the right oil in it.

what oil are you using? alot of "synthetics" are just blends. M1, amsoil, are good full syn oils.

i put mobil drive clean 7500 in the 940 for its first oil change.(already had it for the old LHS) it is a syn. blend. i will probably drain at 3k and use M1 on a 5k drain.
