OD driving me crazy 200 1984

There are so few vases that you have not hit already! Maybe this is the one:

I recall from my 1983 245GL M47 that the o/d circuit requires a ground at the switch on the tranny which grounds only in 4th gear. That switch can go bad, as it did for me.

One symptom was that when the o/d dropped out I could re-engage it by slamming the shifter in the 4th gear direction - towards the glove box. Ultimately the switch had to be replaced. It is located on the tranny about under where the passenger's left foot sits. It was a PITA to get up there.
