best rebuilt brake calipers? 200 1984

Just wanted to get some opinions regarding rebuilt brake calipers. While changing pads on my wagon the other day I noticed some leaking brake fluid and most of the rubber seals were torn. The rotors are also quite worn. I have decided that it is time to go through and replace all the rotors and brake calipers, since I want to keep driving this car for a long time. I don't feel that I have the proper knowledge to rebuild them myself and would feel better buying them already rebuilt.

Any opinions about the ipd vs. FCP Groton rebuilt caliper sets? The FCP ones are considerably cheaper, but that scares me a little since it's the brakes! Any advice?

Thanks,
Craig

Great - thanks for all the good information. I'll have to start asking around here (Austin, TX) and see what I can find. I appreciate all the help.

Local parts store carries King Kaliper brand rebuilt units.
I have had good luck with them on my 745 and both 140s.

Local NAPA stores always have good rebuilds, since their market is mostly local mechanics who demand reliable parts. I've had good luck with Cardone's from FCPGroton and EEuroparts.

    My two cents
Few months ago I was also shopping for rear brake caliper . Raised the same
question here.Lots of help was provided. The summary is most of the rebuilts are not at par. So buy locally so that you are able to return. I bought bendix from advance auto. Napa also had them and they charged me for restocking. Front rebuilts are most likely to be wrongly rebuilt. If your pistons are ok then you are rebuild your self . I could not source new pistons . You may like to see flametrap .com. Has good pictures of front rebuilt process.

I have had so many problems with crappy re-builds the last few years that I try to use a good local supplier now. Lot less trouble if/when it needs to be returned.

Gave up on re-built masters entirely, and only use new. Got damn tired of doing them two and three times.

Try Eeuroparts, I've never had any problems with them. Plus they have free ground shipping.

I agree. Try eeuroparts.com. I just got rebuilt front calipers from them and no problems.
