Your picture isn't there onmy computer but I have a 1981 300D. The MB and my old Volvo 240 are my keepers. My dad bought the Mercedes new in 1980 and gave it to my mom for her 40th birthday.
I bought the 1990 240 new when I was 19. My grandfather left me $20,000.00 when he died so I could get a car. The car cost me $19,600.00. To the amazement of my friends, I wanted my silver 240 instead of an RX-7 or some junky "sports car". I actually wanted a white 2 door turbo, but they didn't make those anymore. So I bought the 240 with the M-47 transmission.
Now I am an attorney with four small kids and I drive a Volvo XC90, but I drive the 240 when I don't have to drive all of the kids.
I know the overall quality of all cars is up these days (as opposed to the ford Pinto and Iacocca K-Cars years) but beacause every car company "owns" each other and cars have lost their "souls"- they are just appliances now. How sad.
