The Volvo greeting? 700

I was driving home from work the other day in my 780, and exchanged glances with a 240 owner at one point on the highway. This got me to thinking. There's a sense of loyalty and even comradery among volvo owners, especially those of us in the RWD days. So is there a formal greeting?

I grew up around Jeeps, another tightly knit group. They go all out, left hand out the door opening at 8 O'Clock. I'm also a bus driver. You better believe we all wave. Sometimes we even hang out the window hoping for a successful high five. I think the Volvo begs for something a little more subtle, dare I say smug. Thus, I offer a few suggestions, feel free to add some cantidates.

1) 2 finger salute, horizontal from the right temple outward rotating at wrist.
2) Large downward nod, turned so you focus to the left of your a-pillar to the oncoming comrade.
3) Perhaps a couple of quick toots of the horn? That major third is very unique, and I do enjoy it. There is an identity to the horn.

Should we reserve something something more minimal for the distant Saab cousins?

Two I have used, mixed results.

1. Double flash of the headlights.

2. Sort of a "V", using the index finger of the left hand, which ought to be up on the steering wheel anyway. Point it up and way left, move it to way right. Visible though the windshield. Makes "V" with no link to the 60's.

Regards,

Bob

I usually give a big obnoxious 'thumb up' or a friendly wave. I have been known to modify the "Live long and prosper" and make it lopsided...so as not to be compleatly confused with Star Trek... I get funny looks with 2 Hella 500 driving lights mounted to the front bumper.... Oh yeah, and "Rock On" is used when I whip 32V Northstar V8 Cadillacs to 65mph on the Boulevard ;-)...Life starts at 3kRPM you know...
