This year I finished up a 93 245 resto-mod. The outside of the heater core was mostly clean, but a little scrubbing with a light nylon brush from the outside caused a few leaks. If you are that far into the job and the car has AC, be prepared to remove the AC coil and soak it in a bleach/water mix to remove the mold from the outside... your nose will thank you later!
