Drive shaft bearing 200

I pulled the seal of the center driveshaft bearing last nite after noticing a little noise. I was amazed to find that the bearing was bone dry and starting to rust. Repacked it with a high quailty wheel bearing grease. What's the opinion on doing this vs just changing the bearing? Changing the bearing would require removing the driveshaft plus pressing on and off the bearing. This was easier. Should repacking the center driveshaft center bearing be part of normal maintaince?

I will eventually replace it as the rubber mount is starting to deteriorate.
