If I read this correctly. 1,3,4,2. is correct and 4,2,1,3. is with the dizzy fitted 180 degrees out. I assume this dizzy has no vacumn advance/retard unit on the side so it wouldn't be immediately obvious. With the vac unit it would face to the rear of the engine and the plug #1 notch on the top edge of the dizzy body is at about 11 o'clock. The rotor points to this notch at TDC. It will fire at 180 out as long as the wires go to the right plugs but best if it's correct. As you can see here. Firing order.

I'd go back to square 1, pull the dizzy and turn it round and then put the wires back to normal. A quick look at pics in the handbook or manual usually clears up any understanding. With a vac unit it's usually adequate to point it to about 2.30 and it will start OK. Set with a strobe.
