All 240/740 vehicles shipped to the USA for the 1988 model year had LH 2.2 fuel injection, and your 740 will have the EZK-117 ignition system (not the Bendix/Rex/Regina system).
A quick way to check what model year car you have is to look at the white tag in the engine bay with the federal emissions requirments listed on it. It will have a sentance that says "This model complies with 19xx model year emissions..." Whatever year it lists on that tag is the model year of the car (and will save you the trouble to look up the VIN number).
Starting in 1989 the non-turbo 240/740 vehicles received LH 2.4 (with OBD-I), and starting in 1990 the turbo cars received the LH 2.4 system with OBD-I.
God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
