1990 wagon ECU compatibility question! 200

I picked up a '90 wagon yesterday, 145,XXX miles, bad ECU for $400.

It's the Bosch 0 280 000 556, but other ECU's can work, right? How can I find out which ones are compatible?

http://epic.mcmaster.ca/~bill/volvo/database/ECU1.htm has a list of ECU numbers and years. So long as I find one compatible with the year and Air Mass Meter, it should work? Thanks!

I also picked up a 1990 240 last year that had a bad 556. The 556 is used with EGR. Like Dan indicated the 933 and 946 are replacements. If you can't find one for a reasonable price send me an email. I have a couple of spares.

If you need the EGR functioning you will need a 933 or 946. The 951 and white label 561 will also work but does not have the circuit that controls the EGR system. Dan
