The first thing I would do is check the main battery and earth connections in the engine compartment. It sounds like total electrical cutout. I spent some time with a friend recently chasing strange 900 electrical issues, and we found the earth cables to be very poorly specified.

If there is a poor feed or return it may be breaking the connection as it gets hot, remaking as it cools off
