1984 760 Turbo sitting for 2 years. 700 1979

First of all, drain all the old fuel, replace with fresh one
change fuel filter
change oil and oil filter, use a lighter weight, like 5w-30, use the cheapest oil this time. Is just for relubing everything before using.
Check spark plugs for oxidation, if in doubt change them. DO NOT install them yet. Add some oil inside via the plug hole, just a bit. This is to lube the cylinder when rotating the engine and makes piston rings happy. DO NOT REINSTALL PLUGS YET!!
check timming belt, change if in doubt
Check tranny fluid level, add if nessesary
remove + cable from coil
rotate engine BY HAND, must turn easy, remember, plugs are removed.
If the engine rotates ok, then and only then rotate the engine via starter, for 15 seconds, wait 30 and repeat again. Do this like 3 to 4 times. You may need a jump afterward.
Remember, fuel will be injected when cranking, but no compression is done. This is to activate the inyectors, prime the oil pump and prime the oiling system, including the turbo.
After this, check the turbo compressor and downpipe for oil, probably will be some. Rotate by hand the turbo shaft, have someone crank while you rotate the shaft to prevent sticking and free the turbo shaft.

Then, reconnect everything, install plugs, and crank that sucker. Dont rev it pass 1000 or 1500. Let the engine warm up, may be idle it for like 5 to 10 or more if you have gas. Work the tranny by putting it in drive, then reverse. Hear for loud clunks or wierd noises.
After, completely warm up the engine, drain oil, drain coolant and replace fluids. DONT DRIVE IT YET
You have to at least clean the rotors and pads for oxidation. Remove rotors and using a wire brush remove all rust possible on the brake pad surface.
As for pads, use 100 grit WET sandpaper and remove some pad surface. This is to remove any contaminants that could (and will be) on the pad surface. Dont forget your emergeny brakes too!!
You may consider a full fluid change and belt replacement. Also, do a electrical load test as the brushes and bearings on the alternantor could be faulty.if the car still have AC, use it but dont force it (using the AC on cold on a hot mid day) so the oil can circulate and lube the seals.
Tires will be shot, so try to replace them unless the car was storage with tires off the ground.
Go easy on the car, maybe 2 or 3 days. Be on the lookout for oil leaks, weird noises and behavior. Good luck!!
I am doing almost the same on a 93 240DL!!!
