No financial interest on my part, just a satisfied customer!
Ordered and recieved a Simons sport exhaust for my 68 Kombi (220) last week and got around to putting it on the car this weekend. I have a Simons system on my 66 130 for the last two years so the product is pretty familiar to me.
Just like the system I put on the sedan, the fit is as near perfect as you will ever find! Again the hardware and clamps are super.. no cheap flimsy muffler clamps here.. good, solid, heavy duty units with 3/8" threaded hardware.
The dual downpipe is well coated with heat resistant paint and all the rest of the pipes and resonator all the way back to the muffler are nice, heavy, aluminized steel tubing. Again the mandrel bends are perfect... not a wrinkle or squeezed down tube anywhere.
Sounds very mellow and with just a bit of tweaking and adjusting is rattle free... even on the very rough logging road to my house.
I rate it a good solid 4 stars. By comparison, I spent the same money for a system from one of the better local muffler shops a couple of years ago (before I found out about the Simons systems) and I got a Sport Exhaust systems from Simons (Skandix). Sadly, the resulting system does not measure up against the Simons system in any area.
The folks that handle Skandix US distribution are very well integrated into the Skandix Web presence. they ship nearly same day in every case. Shipping is fast and efficient and the shipping notifications include the UPS tracking number so you can easily track the shipment. On the whole a satisfying experience, start to finish.
Thanks again Matthias
