What does this (!) symbol mean? 700 1989

1989 745T:

As of 3 weeks ago, I occasionally get a warning light on the dash with an exclamation mark. It will stay on for 5-10 seconds but doesn't always come on. It's about center of dash but my owner's manual does not list or describe it.

Anyone know?

Hi-

Minidave is right, low brake fluid.

I found the light in my Owner's Manual for my 1997 965. It was hidden on the page that shows which lights should never stay on when driving. There is a square light with "Brake" in the center for low brake fluid, BUT it shows a warning for Canadian models that looks like a circle with an exclamation point inside it. That sound like what you see?

I believe that it is the brake warning, as in low fluid or some other hydraulic malfunction. I think that it also may be only in canadian cars, but I may also be way off. Check your brake fluid level is my free advice. If it's low, I also suggest finding out where it went.
