Volt gauge and fuses 200 1984

I actually wired mine directly to the terminal strip near the battery - through a fuse, of course.

Having the voltmeter hot all of the time gives you information about starter draw, among other things.

And the constant draw of a voltmeter is dang near zero, probably less than a clock, so you don't need to have any concerns about it being "on" all of the time.
