How much Overfilling of manual tranny can be done 200

You can do a fair amount of overfilling depending on how much you are able to tilt the car. Tilting it sideways is the best, if you can do it on flat ground, that's the way to go (fore and aft should be level, side to side obviously tipped on the passenger side. Generally you can jam around 2 quarts in before you start wondering if the car is going to tip over, if you tilt it any farther.

Please note, there is a vent in the transmission at the back of the trans. It is concealed along one of the case bolts. If you fill it too much, it will merely eject what it doesn't have room for. I also noticed that prior to ejecting from the vent, it may weep slightly at the rear seal, especially the synthetic. This was noted on one that I changed out and pre-filled.

The stiff first gear is a typical annoyance of that transmission. I found that MTL was the best solution, and produced the smallest amounts of magnetic debris in the fluid over similar change intervals. Also that the nonmagnetic debris in the fluid itself was greatly reduced (judged by color and by filtering the fluid that I removed).
