For those of you who might be interested, I sold my 544 at Leake Auto Auction in Tulsa, Ok. this past Friday. There were 750 cars across the blocks (2 lanes at the same time for the best part of 3 days). Of course all of them did not sell due to the "reserve" set by the owners. Mine was a VERY nice car and it sold for $20,000. It is not the "end"--I already have another 64 544 in the beginning stages of restoration. I will continue to read every entry concerning 544's on the Brickboard to absorb all the information I can.

Which air cleaners would you be refering to? Its always good to know what sort of bling is out there to dress up your PV.

Good for you Jim! Perhaps the world is starting to wake up to the sterling qualities of these cars (yours was an exceptional example)!
I hope the air filters added some 'bling' that helped it sell!
I am also sure that that the old car will pale in comparison to the new one when completed. After all, you have some 'experience' now!! LOL!

The air filters did draw a LOT of attention, and I will be ordering another set when I get that far along.

I'm delighted at the price you got. I've heard of PV544's being valued for insurance for similar amounts, but I never heard of one actually selling for that amount.

When my car was appraised, the build cost was stated at $25K, but the 'replacement cost' was set at $15K. Heck - a decent paint job can eat up the best part of $10K these days!

Congratulations on contributing so much to the rest of us...now we can point out your car as an example, whereas before about all we could look forward to would be in the under <$12k range!
