Clean it before you replace it. Get CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner or similar, pull out the amm, spray the heck out of the inside of it until the gunk all drips out. Worked wonders on two of mine. Hate to think how many amms have been replaced needlessly. If it doesn't do the job, you're out $5 or $6 for the effort, and you have the peace of mind of knowing you need a new one.
