I'm planning to buy this car tomorrow if the safety and emissions inspections I'm paying for don't turn up anything too scary. I'd appreciate any thoughts on whether it sounds like a good deal ... or things to watch for.

Car is for daughter and will be the third brick in my driveway. Wow, I'm already anticipating my brickboard visits.

for $1,200:

-92 240 sedan with 184K, auto
-body looks good. no visible rust except for surface rust along a side gash
-white paint looks good
-exhaust looks ok
-real solid feel on the road, ran well, engine temp looked good
-rear-end noise over bumps
-brakes recently done, work great
-a/c cycles on and off, not counting on that being much good
-loose belts and I'm sure I'll be in there cleaning/swapping hoses, flame trap etc
-3 good tires, 1 borderline
-didn't notice any leaks
-power windows work fine.
-some trim missing
-lenses clear
-cloth seats in good shape.
-they've had it for 2 years, from original owner, say they have all records, but I didnt see them tonight.

Why do you not want to run the blower motor on high?

I would say that you can't go too wrong for $1200. It sounds well worth the money.

Don't worry too much if the heater fan has not been replaced. My '91 has the original fan, and has occasionally made noise for the past 10 years, but still works fine. If the noise starts to annoy me I just change fan speed and it goes away.

Couple of other things I would check out if it were me is if the blower motor (PITA labor-intensive job) has been replaced and if the rear main oil seal (big bux) is patent.

Will do, thanks. Blower was strong and smooth but I'll check the records on both points and look closer for oil leaks.
