you'd need a tranny jack and some way to get the car high enough to work on it. Possibly 4 ramps. Getting the tranny bolts off can be fun, especially if some gorilla put them on. I tried to seperate the tranny bolts on my 740td and even with some pretty stout air tools, it was a no go with the angle adapters and extensions. Even after pulling the engine, it took the big truck tools to get it apart. They should not be that tight, but you never know.
Why is the torque converter suspect? That's usually not the weak area on those things. What is the car doing.
