low grinding transmission noise. 700 1990

The car is a 740 turbo wagon. The problem seems to be a low sounding grinding noise which seems to be coming from the transmission while driving and gets a bit louder with higher speeds. I have 200.00 miles driven is it time for a tranny overhaul?
