Dashboard swap 1800 1800

The previous owner of my 67 removed the vinyl/foam covering off the upper and lower dash, stripping them down to bare metal. I've had it covered with cloth dash pads for years. The vinyl dashcap shells that are sold won't work since the original dash material is removed. My 69 parts car has an acceptable dash and the configuration of the gauges is the same as the 67. What is involved in removing an entire dash? I assume the first move is to remove the front windshield and steering wheel, but what's next?

    Dashboard swap 1800 1800

The previous post sums it up well. I completely disassembled a 71 1800E and sawed the whole dash section out after cutting up the rest of the body. I then saw all the bolts ans such that hold it in.

A 120's dash is a very simple job, but the 1800 is a challenge just because it is so hard to reach everything. You'd want to take out the AC unit (if you have one) and remove the front seats to make it a bit easier to move around in there.

no need to remove windshield. disconnect wiring, capillary tubes, defroster vents, steering wheel and cowel...then four bolts holding dash to frame. Then you can pull the whole thing out. You have to be a contortionist to get all that stuff apart but it can be done.
