I noticed one afternoon, when I saw the reflection of my 1985 245 in a store front, that my brake lamps were not operating. I checked the fuse, and it was good. On the way home, I also noticed that the cruise control would not engage. On arriving at home I dug into the circuit, and found a light layer of corrosion on the fuse holder lug. I cleaned the entire fuse strip with a small copper wire brush, coated the lugs with a light film of dilectric grease, cleaned the fuse tips with contact cleaner and reinstalled all the fuses. Problem resolved, and now performing regular maintenance on the fuse holders is on my list of things to do on a regular basis. No problems at all, since I began doing this.
