Trying to find the 940 speed sensor on the flywheel 900

Hi Folks,
Still trying to get my 940 started. Looking for the speed pickup. Can I get to it from the top? I found one thin wire on the passenger side but it seems to go toward the transmission. I found a thicker wire that touches the firewall near the top of the bell housing. Driver side is pretty busy.
Do I have to jack up the 940 wagon to get to the sensor?
Thanks
Jerry

The crankshaft position sensor is located in a notch at the front edge of the bellhousing, and would be directly at the top if the engine were mounted vertically. In other words, it is in line with the engine block, slightly to the right (the car's right) of center, or at about the 11 o'clock position if viewed from the front of the car.

You should not have to raise the car to get to it, it is acessible from the top, passenger side. Access is fairly tight. Some people have described it as being a choice between being able to see it or to get a tool on it. Long extensions and universal joints are your friends. It also helps to have smallish hands. DON'T drop anything down the hole when the sensor is out.
