springs 120-130

hello everyone
I have attempted to get advice and possibly a set from V-perfomance, but email responses and discussion is little on their end, and other Volvo places are equally difficult to get help from.

what is a good spring rate for a B20 amazon to go racing?
and what shocks would they pair with
I imagine Qa1 or penske double adjustable remote resevoir and srping to match would be best...but common it is hardly Amazon type stuff- I don't think the VARA or other historic like that sort of change (they don't i checked)although SCCA Gt3 say Okay the car has pretty much been uncompetitive there forever and continues to be so.

So would the adjustable Koni's do well for circuit racing? or should i go with bilstein HD's...
or paint the Qa1 to look like koni's and take a chance? ha ha
and i was thinkg 700-800# up front
and 250-350 in the rear
any tips advice or misjudgements you can point out?

Parker is terrible at the email thing and even worse at delivering parts. I've got a set of stockers out of my car at the moment if you need dimensions. There isn't a proper answer for your question as your suspension has to be tuned to the total package. What sways are you running/planning on running. I've acutually got a set of Parker's springs up front (still waiting for the rears) and they are around 700 lbs - and with the stock sway and they are a vast improvment over stock. I've got an IPD 28mm sway going in and things should very flat in the corners at that point. I'm running Bils all round. I don't know about the rear rates stock, but I think I've got click-pens with more spring rate.

If you're lowering the CG make sure you stay off the bump stops - they come up pretty quickly. Dale (Volvo245gti) has repositioned his upper A arms for more camber. I've driven in his car and it handles great at high speeds - so this is a modification you may want to think about, but it completely changes the front end geometry - so better make measurements with full sized patterns first.

    Hope this helps.
    Craig

        Measurements 120-130

My stock springs are the following dimensions.

Front 3.625" ID with 0.575 diameter wire, 8.5 coils 11.5" tall.
Rears (mine are cut...so I had to estimate) 3.625" ID, 0.472" wire, 10.5 coils, 16" tall.

        Hope this helps.

        Craig

          Awesome
          that helps a million-
now i can match some spring rates to the appropriate shock better- as i can find the springs i need anywhere (mine were cut as welll) an 1 up front and 1/2 inch in the rear.. funny rake
it looks fast, in the barn where i found it

I'll measure them up tonight. Parker is the only source for the T5 that I know of...but lots of guys on Turbobricks are running T5's without the VP part. You just need to get a few of the dimensions and find a machinist willing to knock out a single part. Normally I would support the Volvo aftermarket and not suggest the reverse engineering pathway - but in this case it's your best bet.
