Transmission fluid recs 200 1987

For the 244 with 252k on her, what would be everyones ATF recommendations? So far it shifts fine, no slop or whine.

Do a flush (not a pan drain) with Dexron, or a synthetic (better) .... 200 1987

Hi.
I always flush my cars' transmission when I first get them (used), as a precaution. I've never drained the pan (my understanding is that the screen never really needs to be changed, as it's only a screen rather than a filter) -- I just do an "IPD-style" flush via the radiator connection.

For the first time (new car), I'd run 20 quarts, to be sure of a thorough flush.

And I always use a good synthetic (my preference is AmsOil ATF, but any good brand would do, I'm sure).
