Brighter bulbs for headlights - UK test

This is a fairly recent test of the available new fangled non-HID bulbs in the UK. Might be useful for folks looking to increase headlamp brightness with little fuss. The 700 FAQ currently only covers the +30% ones.

I have just installed the +50% Philips H4 bulbs (marketed as Philips Power2night +50% in Australia) and they are a terrific upgrade. The difference is quite dramatic. The best thing is the easy nature of the improvement: no wiring or relays to add, no extra wattage to deal with. It's also quite an affordable set of bulbs.

I'll be trying the +80% X-treme series Philips in my 850 soon.

Brighter bulbs for headlights - UK test - great hint, thank you

This is good information, thanks for posting. Here in the USA, we are stuck with pretty dim (so to speak) pickings when it comes to bulbs. I have ordered the Philips VisionPlus H4 and H7 bulbs from AutolampsOnline.com, and they mailed the products immediately - excellent service. The VisionPlus were a noticeable but not dramatic improvement over the generic H4 or H7 bulbs. For all the complaints a few years ago about how the Volvo V70/S70 used up bulbs quickly, none of the VisionPlus bulbs has EVER burned out on my wife's 1999 V70.
