I just did my engine mounts Sat. There is no need to mess with the upper brackets.
Used ramps to raise car and hydraulic floor jack w/2x4 to raise engine, 1 side at a time.
Removed the 3 nuts on the lower bracket ⎛ mm 6pt socket], removed the nuts on the mount ⎛mm ratcheting box wrench]. Jacked up that side of the engine and pulled the mount & lower bracket right out.
Replacement was simple, I just slipped the new mount under the upper bracket and then the lower bracket under it, lined up the tabs and then slowly lowered the engine. Tightened everything down once it was loaded.
Same process on both sides, although driver side access is quite cramped. But there is an access channel
on the upper driver side bracket that a 15mm 6pt deep socket & universal joint fits into perfectly to remove & replace that upper mount nut.
Took 2 hrs which included an oil change. Pulling the filter really helps with clearance, but it's not a requirement. FYI: Used Volvo mounts from Tasca...$56 for both L & R mounts
Did transmission mount on Sunday.... piece of cake
Now she runs like a dream.... very noticeable.....
