Nine years ago I bought a 240 wagon with 127 Kmi. on it. Before I started to use it, I decided to go over it from stem-to-stern so that I would not have to screw around with it for another 127 Kmi. I replaced ALL suspension rubber, motor mounts, the clutch, rear main seal, brake rotors, pads, brake hoses, drive shaft carrier bearing, ball joints, etc. Because of my past experience, I replaced most of the parts with Original Volvo items. I had learned early on that the most value is found in the authentic Volvo items, especially the rubber parts.
For the front end I used Boge gas-charged strut inserts and KYB strut mounts, only because a local parts house had them on the shelf and my wife was having a problem with the amount of time I was spending under a car she had yet to drive. As it turned out, the Boge's were no mistake, but the KYB strut tops were a whore's nightmare. One day after less than 6,000 miles of use, I popped the hood to find the rubber of KYB strut mounts on the verge of tearing away from the mounting plate. That certainly scared the shit out of me.
The KYB's had their usual lifetime REPLACEMENT warranty, but I was not so much of a fool that I was going to replace them with more of the same junk, so I demanded, and got, my money back.
I already had sunk much more than I had planned (isn't that ALWAYS the way it is) into refurbishing the 240, so, I decided to reuse the original strut mounts, which in every way seemed in good condition. At 240Kmi, they are still functioning well, although the rubber is just starting to show some cracks.
Nowadays, you have to beware of any company which uses an umlauted vowel in its name. From what I have seen, URO is nothing more than a bullshit name thought up by a bunch of lying bastards who are trying to attach some European cachet to Chinese junk. Their business plan is the same as Scan-Tech's - slap a European sounding name on Chinese shit.
Don't be a sucker. No matter how cheaply they sell that crap for, it is too much.
