On my 85, there is a dust cover that sits under the rotor. I would think that would catch everything if it crumbles. If you're that concerned, consider pulling the distributor and then work on the bench. Just scribe alignment marks on the base of the distri and valve cover. Mark the plug wires. Gear wrenches makes this an easy job. 8/10mm.
